Wine Pairings with Castello di Amorosa

Castello di Amorosa is one of my favorite wine makers.  I love visiting their authentically-styled 13th century Tuscan castle winery in the Napa Valley (highly suggest going for a tasting experience if you are in the area).  Fortunately, if you aren’t planning a trip (or lucky enough to live nearby) you can also enjoy their selections at home!

I just stocked up on some of my favorites so I thought I would share with you how I like to serve them for my guests with some delicious pairings.

IL Barone Cabernet

This cabernet is an award-winner, consistently 95+ points!  Sourced from our top vineyards throughout Napa Valley, and shows dense flavors of dark berries, baking spice, and powerful, structured tannins. An exceptional Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with excellent long-term aging potential.

Try it with:

o   Hard cheeses like aged cheddar, gouda, or your favorite vegan cheese

o   Portobello mushrooms

o   Virtually any meat or even a black bean burger

o   Bacon-wrapped blue cheese stuffed dates

o   Dark chocolate

Merlot

A flavorful medium-bodied red with excellent depth and balance. Highlighted by notes of black cherry, cedar, and dark chocolate, with well-integrated tannins and an elegant, lingering finish.

Try it with:

o   Olives

o   Salty cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino

o   Mushrooms

o   Anything tomato-based

o   A light pasta dish

Moscato

Offers perfumed aromas of candied peach, orange blossom, and honeydew melon. Leading to lush but elegant flavors of stone fruits and ripe green apple. The profile is rounded out with a soft acidity and refreshing sweetness.

Try it with:

o   Poultry and fish

o   Spicy curries

o   Almonds

o   Raw vegetables

o   Figs and melon

Grape Juice (non-alcoholic option, also great for kids!)

A sweet non-alcoholic treat. Wine grapes make a more flavorful aromatic white grape juice naturally.  Liam loves having his own pairings alongside mine!

Liam recommends this with:

o   Apple slices

o   Almonds

o   Chocolate

o   Raspberries

o   Cheese
