Our Weekend in Washington, D.C.

Liam and I recently made a quick trip down to Washington, D.C.  We packed a lot into the visit and I wanted to share some highlights!

Where to stay:

We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental and just loved it! Everyone was so kind and helpful.  The service and amenities are top notch and the room was beautiful and relaxing.

Since it was one of our only weekends off we utilized the in-room dining a lot for breakfast in bed and snacks later in the evening. All the food was so good.

Liam loves: their big indoor pool.

Mom loves: the spa (I treated myself to a massage and the vitality pool.)

What to see and do:

There’s no lack of options in this city! It’s full of history. We walked 7 miles on Saturday seeing the Jefferson Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial, National Mall, Capitol Building and the White House. In my opinion a definite must-do if you are going to visit for the first time or haven’t been in a while.

Where to eat:

Most of our meals were casual but we did have dinner at The Hamilton on Friday evening. It’s located just steps from the White House and the decor is warm and inviting.

Liam said this may be his new favorite spot for chicken tenders. I was able to find vegan options, starting with miso soup followed by a beyond burger.

Bonus Attraction:

Liam will be playing for the New York Red Bulls Pre Academy team this fall and it turned out the New York Red Bulls were playing DC United, so we grabbed some last minute tickets and enjoyed a soccer game on Saturday evening.

It was a great weekend full of relaxation, exploring and quality time for Liam and I.
