Oak Park, Illinois is one of my favorite places to visit. Located right outside of Chicago it was designed for families that want that city feel without actually living in the city. Oak Park has been home to some influential people, including Ernest Hemingway and Frank Lloyd Wright; In fact, you will find many of his home designs here. Downtown Oak Park is full of shops and restaurants and hosts countless community activities year-round. I made the trip with my mom and niece to see Andrea Bocelli, but we took full advantage of the area while we were there and so I want to share with you the places we stayed, dined, and shopped along the way. I’m going to give you a few last-minute, yet thoughtful, Mother’s Day gift ideas…but before I do I just want to say that most Moms really just want to feel appreciated. Remember, you know your mom or partner best. What fills her cup? Is it sleeping in, breakfast in bed, flowers and handmade cards? Is it a piece of mother’s jewelry and a dinner out where she can get dressed up? Is it a day all to herself at the spa or maybe even a quiet hotel room overnight? Is it a family day, filled with all the generations of moms in her family? A hike? A good book and time to read it? The options are endless and the answers as unique as each special mom in your life.
