Brooklyn: Sunday June 2, 2018

New York City can be overwhelming yet so amazing at the same time.

Like many of you, I constantly think about how to keep my active 5 year old busy on the weekends.

Li loves riding the subway so we decided to take the subway to Brooklyn. We first stopped by The Brooklyn Zoo which is the new Ninja Warrior gym that opened at 230 Bogart Street. It was packed with kids taking classes.

We then took an Uber to DUMBO and walked around. This area is really cool filled with shops, restaurants, cobblestone streets, a Carousel, St Ann’s Warehouse and incredible views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Skyline.

Located in St Ann’s Warehouse is a variety of shops, restaurants and theater as well as FEED, an organization I’ve become extremely fond of. Every purchase at FEED goes towards fighting hunger. On the back of each purchase it says how many people the purchase is helping to feed.

We had lunch at Cecconi’s, also located in St Ann’s Warehouse, which has waterfront views of the Manhattan Skyline and delicious Italian food. I highly recommend one of their wood-fired pizzas. So yummy.

We then walked over to Fulton Ferry Landing, which is also home to a ferry terminal and Bargemusic. Fulton Landing has great historical significance. It was the site of the original ferry, designed by Robert Fulton, that ran between Manhattan and Brooklyn starting in 1642. We took the  NYC Ferry back to Wall Street to walk around and take in some historical sights. Wall Street is at the southern-most tip of Manhattan and is The financial heartbeat of the United States, (Wall Street is home to the New York Stock Exchange). We also walked by Trinity Church, The Charging Bull and The Fearless Girl Statue. New York City’s Fearless Girl has drawn countless tourists, a great deal of media coverage and its fair share of praise as a symbol of the fight for gender equity.

Six hours later we were tired and wiped out from our busy day of touring. We managed to walk, subway, ferry and Uber all in this time span and see so many different parts of this incredible city.
