Li and I stumbled across Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream on the UWS…and omg, it was so delish!
We consider ourselves somewhat of ice cream connoisseurs and this is among our favs. I must live under a rock because I’ve never heard of them and they’ve been around since 2008!…and it’s a local company…!!
They have a good variety of ice cream flavors (all made from scratch in Greenpoint, Brooklyn)…and even more exciting, they have a huge list of vegan flavors. The vegan scoops are made from cashew milk, organic coconut milk, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic cane sugar, pure cocoa butter and organic Carob bean.
Some special flavors are S’mores and Royal wedding cake. Under classic flavors you will see vanilla, cookies & cream, chocolate, mint chip along with 10 others.
Here are some of their vegan flavors: dark matter, cookie crumble strawberry jam, Planet Earth, Salted Caramel. I made the mistake in sampling and ended up having a double scoop…so much for the diet today. It was worth every calorie! I had the Cookie Crumble Strawberry Jam and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
Liam has a triple scoop, vanilla, chocolate and cookies & cream. We were lucky enough to grab one of their 3 tables and we sat and enjoyed! Li literally said it was one of the best days…o the simple things in life.
The location we went to is located at 448 Amsterdam Ave. It is very small so blink and you may walk by it. They did have a sign outside which is what lured us in along with their signature bright yellow decor.
They have a latte menu as well which I can’t wait to try next time we stop in.
