Do you want to build a snowman?

The desire of every kid in winter and the eternal question asked in the story, Frozen. We went to the Broadway production last Sunday without expectation. Liam loved the movie and all its characters, especially Sven (the Reindeer) and Olaf (the snowman). You know how the movie is never as good as the book? We sort of had the same approach toward the show as it relates to the cartoon.

To say the least, we were blown away by the stage version of the story; true love DOES thaw a frozen heart. We loved it. The music was SUPERB! All the big tunes were featured, along with new ones. Olaf was a large marionette physically attached to the front of the actor portraying him. The first act finished with “Let it Go”, the famous aria from the movie sang by Idina Manzel. Now, Ms. Manzel is a tough act to follow, but the actress who played Elsa blew the ceiling off the theater aided by special effects that turned the stage into an ice castle. There are moments in theater that reaffirm the brilliance of Broadway and this is one of them!

Frozen is amazing entertainment. It was about 2.5 hours with an intermission. Liam sat and laughed and clapped through the whole thing. Quite a success for a 5-year-old first-time theater goer. The adults universally loved the show too. We did the Sunday matinee but the show runs all week at standard Broadway times. The show is worth every dollar. The production is at the St. James Theater on W. 44th Street in NYC. Liam even left with a Sven doll. If you have a Frozen lover in the family, the show is a must!
